Year 11 Revision ahead of the exam
Revision Guide Completed
Task: Print out your revision guide and stick in your book or publish it to your blog.
Now you have printed out your own revision guide and stuck it into your book or published it on your blog, you are ready to tackle the exam paper as part of your revision. Keep learning the terms in your revision guide by reducing down the information, testing yourself or simply re-reading it (whatever method works for you).What do I need to remember about the Exam Paper format?
Task: Read through the example exam paper so you understand the layout and what each question is going to ask for.Textual Analysis section
You will watch a clip from an Action Adventure film in the exam. Make notes focusing on the things you will be writing about in the exam questions.1. Action Adventure Genre.
Explain what are the conventions of Action Adventure films and how the clip illustrates them. Remember to use plenty of examples to support your answer.
Convention examples:

- Hero starts as the underdog
- A 'damsel in distress' rescued by the hero
- Jeopardy or peril
- Narrative sequences and Action sequences
2. Textual Analysis or Film Analysis under four sub-headings

Discuss these, with examples and explain how they affect the reader.
3. Representation
Discuss how the characters are stereotypes of different groups of people. Maybe the stereotypes are not followed and you need to discuss why.

Action Adventure films rely on Action Sequences and a typical Adventure Narrative.
Action Sequences
Extended chases
Lots of high energy stunts
Lots of spectacular special effects
Gun battles and explosives
Fist or sword fights
Series of spectacular crashes
Daring rescues, which succeed in the nick of time
Adventure Narrative
Main character on some sort of quest or mission
Dramatic discoveries
Main character falls in love with a beautiful woman
Main character on the side of good
Main character has to overcome against seemingly impossible odds
Main character has to defeat villain of some sort
A sidekick, who helps the main character
